Planting Lettuce

Lettuce is usually the first seeds I plant in early Spring. And it is so easy to grow and good to have as many months as possible all year, so I plant it 3 or 4 times a year, outdoors. I buy no other seeds but heirloom and organic. My favorite types are Black Seeded Simpson and Oakleaf. I have never tried planting head lettuce, and I'm not a fan of it.

An old window or door works nice as a cold frame. Be sure to remove the glass though and replace it with Plexiglas. You don't want to risk having broken glass on your lettuce.
